Robert E. Hickman, M.D.

Dr. Hickman retired on December 31, 2010.

Dr. Hickman is the founding member of
Gastroenterology Associates of Central Virginia
and has served thousands of patients with
great compassion and skill.

After earning his Medical Degree from Harvard
University and completing his Internship,
Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship
at Duke University, Dr. Hickman opened his practice here in Lynchburg. He then spent the next 31 years
growing Gastroenterology Associates from a one physician, two-staff office to a seven-physician,
six-nurse practitioner office with fifty support
staff, a AAAHC accredited Endoscopy Center, and a
Research Division.

We are very grateful to Dr. Hickman for his
superb care, leadership and wisdom, and
wish him all the best in his retirement.
