Appointment Instructions

Scheduling an appointment at Gastroenterology Associates is simple and convenient. Our coordinators will match you with the right doctor or service based on your needs. To help streamline your visit, please complete your patient forms online before your appointment and bring your insurance cards, a list of medications, and any relevant medical records. If your insurance requires a referral, please ensure it is arranged in advance. For revisits, updated forms may be needed if it has been a year or longer. We look forward to taking care of you!

    To prepare for your office visit:

    • Bring the following to your appointment:

      • Insurance cards

      • Photo ID

      • List of your current medications

    Important reminders:

    • Your copayment or coinsurance will be collected at check-in.

    • If you do not have insurance, please bring a $50 down payment.

    • You must have a driver stay at the hospital and drive you home after the procedure.

      • If you arrive without a driver, your procedure will be cancelled.

    • Please do not wear jewelry or bring valuables with you.

Bowel Prep Instructions

Proper bowel preparation is essential for a successful and accurate procedure. Below, you’ll find detailed instructions for different types of bowel cleansing preparations. Please follow the specific plan recommended by your doctor to ensure the best possible results. If you have any questions or concerns about your prep, don’t hesitate to contact our office for assistance.

  • Please pick up your Clenpiq prep kit from your pharmacy within 3–5 days of receiving your instructions.

    One Week Before Your Procedure

    • Do not eat any of the following:

      • Nuts

      • Dried fruits

      • Fruits or vegetables with seeds

      • Corn

      • Popcorn

      • Raw vegetables

    Day Before Your Procedure

    1. Follow a clear liquid diet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

      • Acceptable liquids include: water, clear fruit juices, clear soda, coffee, tea, plain gelatin, clear broth, popsicles, and hard candy.

      • Avoid anything red, purple, or blue in color.

      • No solid foods.

    2. At 5:00 PM, drink 1 bottle of Clenpiq (directly from the bottle).

    3. Over the next 5 hours, drink at least 40 ounces (5 cups) of clear liquids.

    4. Continue drinking clear fluids throughout the evening to stay hydrated.

    Day of Your Procedure

    1. Take your morning medications 30 minutes before starting your prep, unless otherwise instructed.

      • No solid foods.

    2. Five hours before leaving for your procedure:

      • Drink 1 bottle of Clenpiq (directly from the bottle).

    3. After drinking the Clenpiq:

      • Drink at least three 8-ounce cups of clear liquids at a comfortable pace.

    4. Stop drinking all liquids at least 2 hours before leaving your home.

  • Please pick up your Golytely or Colyte prep kit from your pharmacy within 3–5 days of receiving your instructions.

    One Week Before Your Procedure

    • Do not eat any of the following:

      • Nuts

      • Dried fruits

      • Fruits or vegetables with seeds

      • Corn

      • Popcorn

      • Raw vegetables

    Day Before Your Procedure

    1. Follow a clear liquid diet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

      • Acceptable liquids include: water, clear fruit juices, clear soda, coffee, tea, plain gelatin, clear broth, popsicles, and hard candy.

      • Avoid anything red, purple, or blue in color.

      • No solid foods.

    2. First thing in the morning, mix the Golytely or Colyte powder with 1 gallon (4 liters) of room temperature water. Shake well and refrigerate.

      • You may add 2 scoops of Crystal Light Lemonade for better taste.

    3. At 5:00 PM, start drinking the cleansing solution:

      • Drink one 8-ounce glass every 10–15 minutes.

      • Rapid drinking of each glass is preferred.

      • Continue drinking until you have finished ¾ of the bottle.

      • Refrigerate the remaining solution.

    4. Drink at least four 8-ounce glasses of water in addition to your prep. Clear beverages and juices are also encouraged.

    Day of Your Procedure

    1. Take all morning medications 30 minutes before starting your prep, unless otherwise instructed.

      • No solid foods.

    2. Five hours before leaving for your procedure:

      • Start drinking the remaining cleansing solution.

      • Drink one 8-ounce glass every 10–15 minutes until the solution is finished.

    3. Drink at least two 8-ounce glasses of water (or clear beverages/juices) after completing the prep.

      • Do not drink cola, tea, or coffee.

    4. Stop drinking all liquids at least 2 hours before leaving your home.

  • Please pick up your bowel prep kit from your pharmacy within 3–5 days of receiving your instructions.
    You will need:

    • Two Dulcolax tablets

    • One 238-gram bottle of Miralax (prescription)

    • One 64-ounce bottle or two 32-ounce bottles of Gatorade (no red, blue, or purple flavors)

    One Week Before Your Procedure

    • Do not eat any of the following:

      • Nuts

      • Dried fruits

      • Fruits or vegetables with seeds

      • Corn

      • Popcorn

      • Raw vegetables

    Day Before Your Procedure

    1. Follow a clear liquid diet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

      • Acceptable liquids include: water, clear fruit juices, clear soda, coffee, tea, plain gelatin, clear broth, popsicles, and hard candy.

      • Avoid anything red, purple, or blue in color.

    3. At 5:00 PM, mix the entire bottle of Miralax into 64 ounces of Gatorade.

      • Drink 8 ounces every 10–15 minutes until half of the solution is gone.

    4. Continue to drink clear liquids until one hour before bedtime.

    5. If you experience nausea, bloating, or cramping:

      • Pause or slow the drinking rate for about 30 minutes until symptoms improve.

    6. It is very important to continue fluid intake. Drink additional clear fluids such as water or Gatorade alongside your prep.

    Day of Your Procedure

    1. Take all morning medications 30 minutes before starting your prep, unless otherwise instructed.

      • No solid foods.

    2. Five hours before leaving for your procedure:

      • Drink the remaining half of the Miralax/Gatorade solution.

      • Drink 8 ounces every 10–15 minutes until finished.

    3. If you experience nausea, bloating, or cramping during the second half:

      • Pause or slow the drinking rate for about 30 minutes until symptoms improve.

    4. Stop drinking all liquids at least 2 hours before leaving your home.

  • Please pick up your bowel prep kit from your pharmacy within 3–5 days of receiving your instructions.
    You will need:

    • Two Dulcolax tablets

    • One 510-gram bottle of Miralax (prescription)

    • Two 64-ounce bottles of Gatorade (no red, blue, or purple flavors)

    One Week Before Your Procedure

    • Do not eat any of the following:

      • Nuts

      • Dried fruits

      • Fruits or vegetables with seeds

      • Corn

      • Popcorn

      • Raw vegetables

    Day Before Your Procedure

    Day of Your Procedure

    4. Stop drinking all liquids at least 2 hours before leaving your home.

  • Please pick up your Miralax prep kit from your pharmacy within 3–5 days of receiving your instructions.
    You will also need to purchase:

    • Two Dulcolax tablets (over-the-counter)

    One Week Before Your Procedure

    • Do not eat any of the following:

      • Nuts

      • Dried fruits

      • Fruits or vegetables with seeds

      • Corn

      • Popcorn

      • Raw vegetables

    Day Before Your Procedure

    1. Follow a clear liquid diet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

      • Acceptable liquids include: water, clear fruit juices, clear soda, coffee, tea, plain gelatin, clear broth, popsicles, and hard candy.

      • Avoid anything red, purple, or blue in color.

      • No solid foods.

    2. At 3:00 PM, take two Dulcolax tablets.

    3. At 5:00 PM, mix half of the bottle of Miralax into 64 ounces of water.

      • You may add any sugar-free water flavoring, except those that are red, purple, or blue.

    4. Drink 8 ounces every 10–15 minutes until the entire solution is gone.

    5. Continue drinking clear liquids until one hour before bedtime.

    6. It is important to maintain fluid intake — keep drinking additional clear fluids alongside your prep.

    Day of Your Procedure

    1. Take all morning medications 30 minutes before starting your prep, unless otherwise instructed.

      • No solid foods.

    2. Five hours before leaving for your procedure:

      • Mix the remaining half of the Miralax bottle with another 64 ounces of water.

      • Drink 8 ounces every 10–15 minutes until the entire solution is gone.

    3. Stop drinking all liquids at least 2 hours before leaving your home.

  • Please pick up your Plenvu bowel prep kit from your pharmacy within 3–5 days of receiving your instructions.

    One Week Before Your Procedure

    • Do not eat any of the following:

      • Nuts

      • Dried fruits

      • Fruits or vegetables with seeds

      • Corn

      • Popcorn

      • Raw vegetables

    Day Before Your Procedure

    1. Follow a clear liquid diet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

      • Acceptable liquids include: water, clear fruit juices, clear soda, coffee, tea, plain gelatin, clear broth, popsicles, and hard candy.

      • Avoid anything red, purple, or blue in color.

      • No solid foods.

    2. At 5:00 PM, empty Dose 1 into the provided mixing container.

      • Add cool drinking water to the 16-ounce line and mix until completely dissolved.

    3. Drink the entire contents of the mixing cup slowly over the next 30 minutes.

      • It is important to drink all of the prep.

    4. After finishing Dose 1:

      • Drink two 16-ounce cups of water (or diet, sugar-free clear drinks like Crystal Light) over the next hour.

    5. Continue drinking clear fluids throughout the evening to stay hydrated.

    Day of Your Procedure

    1. Take all morning medications 30 minutes before starting your prep, unless otherwise instructed.

      • No solid foods.

    2. Five hours before leaving for your procedure:

      • Mix Dose 2 Pouch A and Dose 2 Pouch B into the mixing container.

      • Add cool drinking water to the 16-ounce line and mix well.

    3. Drink all of the Dose 2 liquid slowly over 30 minutes.

      • Again, it is important to drink the entire prep.

    4. After finishing Dose 2:

      • Drink two additional 16-ounce cups of water (or diet, sugar-free clear drinks) over the next hour.

    5. Stop drinking all liquids at least 2 hours before leaving your home.

  • Please pick up your Suprep bowel prep kit from your pharmacy within 3–5 days of receiving your instructions.

    One Week Before Your Procedure

    • Do not eat any of the following:

      • Nuts

      • Dried fruits

      • Fruits or vegetables with seeds

      • Corn

      • Popcorn

      • Raw vegetables

    Day Before Your Procedure

    1. Follow a clear liquid diet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

      • Acceptable liquids include: water, clear fruit juices, clear soda, coffee, tea, plain gelatin, clear broth, popsicles, and hard candy.

      • Avoid anything red, purple, or blue in color.

      • No solid foods.

    2. At 5:00 PM, pour one (1) 6-ounce bottle of Suprep liquid into the mixing cup.

      • Add cool drinking water (or a diet sugar-free clear drink like Crystal Light) to the 16-ounce line and mix well.

    3. Drink all the liquid in the mixing cup slowly.

      • It is important to drink the entire prep.

    4. After finishing the prep:

      • Drink two additional 16-ounce cups of water (or diet, sugar-free clear drinks) over the next hour.

    5. Continue drinking clear fluids throughout the evening to stay hydrated.

    Day of Your Procedure

    1. Take all morning medications 30 minutes before starting your prep, unless otherwise instructed.

      • No solid foods.

    2. Five hours before leaving for your procedure:

      • Pour the second 6-ounce bottle of Suprep liquid into the mixing cup.

      • Add cool drinking water (or diet sugar-free clear drink) to the 16-ounce line and mix.

    3. Drink all the liquid in the mixing cup slowly.

      • Again, it is important to drink the entire prep.

    4. After finishing:

      • Drink two additional 16-ounce cups of water (or diet, sugar-free clear drinks) over the next hour.

    5. Stop drinking all liquids at least 2 hours before leaving your home.

  • Please pick up your Sutab bowel prep kit from your pharmacy within 3–5 days of receiving your instructions.

    One Week Before Your Procedure

    • Do not eat any of the following:

      • Nuts

      • Dried fruits

      • Fruits or vegetables with seeds

      • Corn

      • Popcorn

      • Raw vegetables

    Day Before Your Procedure

    1. Follow a clear liquid diet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

      • Acceptable liquids include: water, clear fruit juices, clear soda, coffee, tea, plain gelatin, clear broth, popsicles, and hard candy.

      • Avoid anything red, purple, or blue in color.

      • No solid foods.

    2. At 5:00 PM, open one bottle (12 tablets) of Sutab.

      • Fill the provided container with 16 ounces of water.

      • Swallow each tablet with a sip of water and drink the entire 16 ounces over 15–20 minutes.

    3. One hour after the last tablet:

      • Fill the container with 16 ounces of water and drink the full amount over 30 minutes.

    4. Approximately 30 minutes after finishing the second container:

      • Fill the container again with 16 ounces of water and drink the full amount over 30 minutes.

    5. If you develop nausea, bloating, or cramping:

      • Pause or slow the drinking rate for about 30 minutes until symptoms improve.

    Day of Your Procedure

    1. Take all morning medications 30 minutes before starting your prep, unless otherwise instructed.

      • No solid foods.

    2. Five hours before leaving for your procedure:

      • Open the second bottle of 12 tablets.

      • Fill the container with 16 ounces of water.

      • Swallow each tablet with a sip of water and drink the entire 16 ounces over 20–30 minutes.

    3. One hour after the last tablet:

      • Fill the container with 16 ounces of water and drink it over 30 minutes.

    4. Approximately 30 minutes after finishing the second container:

      • Fill the container again with 16 ounces of water and drink the full amount over 30 minutes.

    5. If you develop nausea, bloating, or cramping:

      • Pause or slow the drinking rate until symptoms improve.

    6. Stop drinking all liquids at least 2 hours before leaving your home.
